China and Georgia boost bilateral ties with visa exemption agreement

In a significant move to foster closer ties and facilitate travel, the Chinese Ambassador to Georgia, Zhou Qian, and Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani met in Tbilisi on April 10 to sign a mutual visa exemption agreement for ordinary passport holders traveling between the two countries.

Zhou Qian, in his address, emphasized that the agreement will greatly enhance mutual exchanges and understanding between the two peoples. He highlighted the agreement as a testament to the mutual respect and benefits of Sino-Georgia relations, marking another important achievement following the establishment of a strategic partnership between the two countries.

Zalkaliani said that the signing of the visa exemption agreement is a historic event in Georgia-China relations, hoping it will further promote exchanges in the fields of economy, trade, tourism, and culture.

This landmark agreement allows individuals with valid ordinary passports from Georgia and the People's Republic of China to freely enter, exit, or transit through each other's territories without a visa.

Under the new agreement, travelers are granted a single stay of up to 30 days, with a total stay of up to 90 days in a 180-day period.
